Walt Disney’s Silly Symphony comic strips ran in newspapers from 1932-1945. While some of these strips have been reprinted over the years, many weren’t – until now. The four-volume Walt Disney’s Silly Symphonies: The Sunday Newspaper Comics from The Library of American Comics and IDW collects the strips in their entirety for the first time. The Volume Four published recently, Westfield’s Roger Ash takes a look at this impressive undertaking.

Floyd Gottfredson’s name is practically synonymous with the Mickey Mouse newspaper strip and some of Mickey’s grandest adventures. Fantagraphics’ recently completed a 14 volume set collecting the first 25 years of the comic strip, which features all of Gottfredson’s work on the strip before it became gag-a-day.
