“When Nick at Dynamite approached me with the idea of publishing an art book, I felt honoured to be given the chance to put together the first comprehensive look at the work of my career so far,” says Jock.  “It will include drawings and paintings from all of my comics projects from over the last ten years, including many sketches and unseen material, plus concept art and extensive promotional images from the various movies and posters I’ve worked on.
The quality of the books I’ve seen from Dynamite has been second-to-none, so I’m thrilled to have a home there for this retrospective.”

Jock is the award-winning British artist renowned for his edgy and dynamic style and gritty design aesthetic.  He leapt to fame with his work on Judge Dredd for 2000AD, before collaborating with then-editor Andy Diggle on the futuristic crime caper Lenny Zero.  This swiftly led to Jock being voted Best Newcomer at the National Comics Awards in 2001.  In the decade since then, Jock has provided commercial art and graphic design for numerous internationally renowned clients including Pontiac, Sony, British Airways, Saatchi & Saatchi, Nintendo, Criterion, the NBA and the BBC.  He has worked for every major Hollywood studio including Disney, Paramount, Universal, Warner Bros., and Sony Pictures, producing key art, concept design, and promotional imagery for Batman Begins, Hancock, Children of Men, Hanna, and Iron Man 3, as well as the big-screen adaptations of Dune, Dredd, and Battleship.  He created in-game artwork for Army of Two: The 40th Day for EA Games, as well as cover art for Ubisoft’s popular Driver franchise.

In comics, Jock is best known for co-creating the New York Times bestselling graphic novel series The Losers with Andy Diggle.  His character designs were followed closely in the feature film adaptation, and his original art was integrated into on-screen transitions and the animated credits sequence.  Jock’s promotional poster for The Losers was voted one of the Top 10 movie posters of 2010 by MTV.  Previous work includes the original graphic novel Hellblazer: Pandemonium for DC Comics/Vertigo.  His stunning covers for numerous titles including X-Men, Daredevil, and Scalped led to his being nominated as Best Cover Artist at the Eisner Awards.  Jock and writer Scott Snyder recently won the Stan Lee Award for Best Series for their work on Batman: The Black Mirror.  He is currently working with actor and comedian Peter Serafinowicz on an original comic-book project, continuing to produce officially licensed screen prints for boutique poster company Mondo, and writing and drawing his first miniseries for Marvel Comics, Savage Wolverine.  Born in Glasgow, Scotland, he now lives and works in Devon.

Nick Barrucci, CEO and Publisher of Dynamite, says, “Jock pushes the boundries with his art and it is just incredible, as he is one of the most highly sought-after comic book artists of his — or any — generation, both in and outside of the comics medium.  His design sense trembles the very walls of human perception; it challenges us to shake off the societal programming that comic art is mere commercial art, and raises it to a higher level and standard.  We are damn proud to welcome Jock as the latest addition to our line of high-end art books.”
