C is for Commentary: Previews 292

Issue One was just released yesterday, and if sales are any sign, this is by far the Star Wars series to read of the decade. I haven’t had a chance to read it myself, but the artwork by Carlos D’Anda is stellar and Brian Wood has yet to fail to entertain me!

Lone Wolf and Cub Omnibus Volume 1
While I prefer Lady Snowblood to Lone Wolf and Cub, I’m looking forward to checking these omnibus editions out. In addition to a larger trim size, I’m hoping they’re on a finer, whiter paper than the previous editions.

Katana #2 and Justice League of America’s Vibe #2
In the Previews catalog these books are on facing pages, which wouldn’t normally be noteworthy. However, they both feature Dave Finch covers in somewhat different styles. The Katana cover looks like a hybrid of Kevin Eastman and Charles Burns’ linework, whereas Vibe looks like a melding of Ted McKeever and Whilce Portacio’s styles but a bit more readable. While the latter style is nice enough, I’d like to see more work from Finch in the style of the former.
Or I could be talking nonsense; whatevs.

Joe Bennett’s art has been amazing on Savage Hawkman, and I really hope soon the writing can find a solid footing and start cultivating some sales and readers to the title.

Because all making out is necessary.

A new #1 means a great jumping on point for those of you who’ve been putting off reading this title!
~
“Our twentieth issue is a brand new #1! Welcome to comic book math.” That may be way nicer than how I would have phrased it.

For those of you who haven’t been getting the free* single issues, this book is for you!
* – retailers had to pay a nominal cost for them to give them to you for free, so please no complaints if you missed out.

The conclusion of “Haunchyville” which is sometimes spelled Hauncheyville; not that it matters. I’ve read #6, the first in this story, and it was pretty awesome seeing myself in print. While I’m not sure what my final fate may be, be sure to make your voice heard and demand more Hoax Hunters if you enjoy them!
Also? Lawn gnomes!

Looks like Natasha drank it.

“Captain America gives Carol new wings in the form of old wheels.” This intrigues me.

Watch out, Hawkguy, the Tracksuits are back, bro!
~
That’s a pretty sexy Bruce Timm cover.

The original Shrugged is quite possibly my favorite Aspen book ever! For one lone, single US dollar, no one with money to spend on comics can afford to miss this issue!
~
You ordered the first issue of this last month, right? You better have, or Paul Jenkins and Humberto Ramos may just show up on your doorstep* to rough you up!
* – Not likely at all, by which I mean almost impossible.
