Conan Road of Kings #10

The art of Mike Hawthorne on this series has polarized many Conan fans, and as a fan of Hawthorne’s art that gives me a grin. I’m now wondering what the reaction to guest artists Dan Panosian is going to be. Recently you may have seen his work on X-Factor Forever.

Avatar the Last Airbender Volume 1: The Promise Part 1

Arguably the best cartoon of the past decade, I’m looking forward to this book bridging the gap to the upcoming sequel.

I just wanted to point out how awesome this Guillem March cover is. Thankfully, I’m also interested in the guts of the book (by Paul Levitz & Marcus To), too!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Micro Series #1: Raphael

I’ve really enjoyed the one issue of this TMNT reboot we’ve gotten so far, so I’m hoping for good things from this micro series, too!

Artifacts #14

Artifacts #14

Just in case you hadn’t heard (but you have, because you listen to the lovely Doughnuts & Top Cow podcast (I co-host), Artifacts is now an ongoing series by the long-term Witchblade team of Ron Marz & Stjepan Sejic.

Super Dinosaur Vol. 1

Super Dinosaur Vol. 1

Super Dinosaur Volume 1 trade paperback

This comic is so much fun! If you’re a fan of talking dinosaurs, non-long-winded sciency technical jargon, and all around fun, you’re only doing a disservice to yourself by not checking it out.

Magdalena #11

I find it humorous that Ron Marz has barely left Witchblade when he then uses her in another book he’s writing; not that I’ve got a problem with that. It’ll also be nice to see Nelson Blake II, David Marquez & crew illustrate another lovely Top Cow lady!

Astonishing X-Men #44

While the colors of this cover look a little off, I’m going to assume it’s my monitor or the files Marvel supplied, because despite not being a big fan of Mike McKone, this cover looks amazing in print. I may be biased, though, as it’s colored by a friend of mine: the lovely Rachelle Rosenberg! Also? Sexy kissing!

Uncanny X-Force #17

While no kissing, this cover is still pretty sexy, what with Archangel and Lady Mandarin with their hands all over each other. Aw yeah!

Gearheart’s Steampunk Glamor Revue #1

If you picked up the recent Victorian Secret special from Antarctic Press, you’ve seen a preview of this already. If you haven’t and you’re in any way interested, I would strongly recommend getting this book full of gorgeous models in amazing costumes!

Naughty and Nice: The Good Girl Art of Bruce Timm

I’m pretty sure this one is self-explanatory, so just consider this a reminder/in-case-you-glossed-over-it heads-up; also available in an even more awesome edition.

King of Braves Gao Gai Gar D-Style model kit

I wouldn’t normally point something like this out, but for some reason a lion head on the chest seemed extra awesome this month. Also, it appears that this model can actually be broken into the component pieces — bomber, drills, bullet train, and lion — and that’s just too sweet to pass up!

Pop! Marvel Captain America vinyl bobble-head figure

While there are numerous awesome Funko Pop! vinyl figures this month ranging from DC’s Aquaman to Marge Simpson, Captain America is the one I am most looking forward to. Also, while it claims to be the movie design, I don’t see it (and that’s a good thing!).

Josh Crawley may or may not be the keyboardist for Everclear. He strongly suggests you not bet that he is.
