Due to overwhelming demand, we are creating a special variant edition of one of our most popular new releases, the Serenity ornament. This will be a special release, and will be limited to advance orders only. No reprints or reorders. As Serenity fans know, there is a sequence in the film where the crew disguises Serenity as a Reaver ship. We've taken the existing ornament, added a few sculptural details, and revised the paint application accordingly. Voila! Something special for the true fan. We will accept orders for this item until March 1, 2007 (conveniently the deadline for this issue of Previews), and will then set the print run. That's it. We will not go back into production on this variant ship after that. Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce a very bronze sculpture inspired by one of Frazetta's most significant paintings, Man the Endangered Species. Which originally appeared as cover art to author L. Ron Hubbard's classic novel Battlefield Earth. The piece depicts a savage alienconfronting one of the last human heroes, Jonnie Goodboy Tyler and his partner and mate Chrissie. The drama and dynamic tension of this savage moment, are frozen in time as only Frazetta can do it. The challenge of bringing this painting forward in three dimensions fell to master sculptor Jeffrey Scott, with an assist from his colleagues at Gentle Giant Studios. He captured the excitement of the original, while extrapolating hidden details as he finished the work from all angles. The results are a tour-de-force of human anatomy and science fiction vision. The sculpture was supervised and approved by both Frank Frazetta and Authors Services, Inc., which is L. Ron Hubbard's international rights agency.

We asked the legendary swordsmiths at Marto, in Toledo, Spain, to design us a metal emblem capturing the essence of the Robert E. Howard barbarian. They crafted a unique skull-adorned version of the logo. These have been reproduced, and will be affixed by Zippo at their factory using a unique process that permanently adheres the 3-D emblem to the lighter. Additionally, each lighter will have a serial number engraved right into the lighter, and only 1,000 pieces are being produced for worldwide distribution. DESTINATION MARS VIDEOTAPE - This ambitious production captures the essence of 1950's sci-fi classic films: it comes complete with Martian Women, Flying Saucers and a 50's typical Doomsday Weapon story line. It has the look and feel of an actual 1950's movie, and is being billed as a lost-film that has been recently recovered and restored. Once the production was complete, the movie underwent a film-look process, which gave the video an aged film appearance. I have been shooting digital documentaries for over four years says producer Christopher Patton, This picture looks amazing...the average person won't know that it was shot on digital video, or for that matter, that it isn't an actual film from the 1950's!

We were saddened to learn of the passing of our favorite glamour girl, Bettie Page. Dark Horse has made well over one hundred licensed products using Bettie. When the strip debuted in 1950, the look and style of the characters were different than today. All of the many licensed products have reflected today's look; few, if any, are in the original style. As Dark Horse's contribution to the anniversary, we decided to bring the original look back with these twin-packs of small vinyl figures. Each set shows the characters as they were in the old days and what they are like now. We found poses taken straight from the strips, and these specific panels will be depicted on the packaging. All four are in a running pose, which makes them look well placed together as a set. We have kicked open the crypt door with the archival hardcover collections of macabre and unusual stories from Creepy, where the only ""shaggy dog tale"" to be found involves a werewolf or two. Long esteemed by comics and horror fans for their deft art and twist endings, perhaps the single most stunning element of any issue of Creepy was its cover. Starting out with a memorable first-issue cover by Jack Davis, the magazine quickly found itself with none other than Frank Frazetta as its main cover artist, which was a move everyone found exciting. But Frazetta wasn't the only great cover painter-he was followed by a host of others, such as Richard Corben and Ken Kelly, to name just two. Another fun component to any issue of Creepy was the mail-order ads for odd merchandise from a variety of sources. These goofy ads still give one a nostalgic chuckle.
