Image: NASA Model: Apollo 12 Lunar Landing (1/72 scale)

Imported from Japan! Four months after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin walked on the moon, Apollo 12 was the second manned flight to reach the lunar surface. The Lunar Module, christened Intrepid, touched down with pinpoint accuracy just 160m from the unmanned Surveyor 3 probe that had been sitting on the Moon's surface for the past 31 months. Dragon's newest model in its exciting Space Collection represents the Apollo 12 mission. The set includes the Intrepid LM on a simulated Ocean of Storms lunar surface alongside the Surveyor 3 probe. Image: NASA Model: Mercury Friendship 7 (1/72 scale)

Imported from Japan! February 2012 marks the 50th-anniversary of NASA's first ever manned orbital flight. Dragon celebrates this auspicious event with a 1/72-scale model of the spacecraft that performed this legendary feat. An Atlas LV-3B launch vehicle blasted off from Cape Canaveral on February 20, 1962 carrying a spacecraft known as Mercury Friendship 7. The flight lasted a mere four hours and 56 minutes, circling the globe three times before the capsule reentered orbit. The sole occupant of the NASA mission was astronaut John Glenn and the Friendship 7 craft eventually splashed down safely in the Atlantic Ocean. Dragon's model depicts the Mercury spacecraft at its launch. The model of call sign Friendship 7 is accurately constructed and painted, and the correct series of markings are in place.

Image: NASA Model: Mercury Liberty Bell 7 (1/72 scale)

Imported from Japan! NASA's Mercury program was a series of manned spaceflights in the important buildup to putting man on the Moon. Gus Grissom's spacecraft Liberty Bell 7 flew 480km at a maximum altitude of 190km and maximum speed of 1,969m/s. The naming is because of the shape of the craft, as well as an association with the original Liberty Bell. Indeed, a crack was painted onto the side of the craft to add to the illusion. An innovation with this spacecraft was an explosive hatch release that allowed a rapid emergency escape. After performing its flight, Liberty Bell 7 splashed down in the ocean, although the craft subsequently sank to the bottom before it could be retrieved by helicopter. As a fitting final note, the Mercury spacecraft was salvaged 38 years later in 1999.

Image: NASA Model: Saturn V (1/72 scale)

Imported from Japan! As the longest, heaviest, and most powerful rocket ever produced, the original Saturn V stood 110.6m high and had a diameter of 10.1m. The Saturn V was at the heart of NASA's Apollo and Skylab programs between 1967 and 1973. It was able to launch a 45-ton payload into space beyond Low Earth Orbit, and it safely delivered 24 astronauts to the Moon. As impressive as the real Saturn rocket system is, this Space Collection item from Dragon will cause jaws to drop and draw gasps of astonishment! While the model makes use of the Command/Service Module (CSM) and Launch Escape System produced earlier, the rest of this monstrous 1/72 scale rocket comes from brand new toolings. All the relevant detail is carefully reproduced on the three rocket stages, and the completed model comes with accurate painting and markings. Even in 1/72-scale the fully built-up model stands 1.5m tall.
