Fifth Degree – DC/WildStorm’s Supernatural: Origins
by Josh Crawley
With the recent solicitation of a new Supernatural mini-series, I thought now would be a great time to read Supernatural: Origin, the property’s first licensed comics, published DC’s WildStorm imprint.
In the past 13 months, I’ve become a big fan of Supernatural, the show about Sam & Dean Winchester, two brothers on a rather long road trip in search of evil supernatural things to hunt & kill, all while they’re listening to a pretty swell classic rock soundtrack. Because it took me so long to start watching the show, now in it’s fifth season, I’d passed on reading Supernatural: Origins when it first came out two years ago. I needn’t have worried.

Who am I? I sell comic books.
Whether it’s for Westfield Comics for my paycheck or for my friend Jim Heffron, Lawdog Comics Publisher, at a convention (Windy City Comicon is coming up in just about three weeks), that’s what I do. In my spare time I also letter a funny book story here or there. Once in a very great while I even get the urge to write.
Too Much Cool Stuff – Not Enough $$$! – August ‘09

Long-time Westfield readers might remember that I used to do a regular recommendations column back in the days when our computers still ran on coal. For those many thousands of generations of comics fans who were born since then, I’d like to explain, for a second or two, how my recommendations work, since there’s no real overt logic at work here.
David Tischman interview: DC/WildStorm’s Red Herring
David Tischman has written such comics as Cable (Marvel), Star Trek: Year Four (IDW), and Greatest Hits (DC/Vertigo) and well as so-writing a number of projects with Howard Chaykin including Bite Club (DC/Vertigo) and American Century (DC/Vertigo). Now he returns with Red Herring from DC/WildStorm. Westfield’s Roger Ash contacted Tischman to learn more about this project.
