Avengers: Under Siege Premiere hard cover Variant Edition
I’ve heard great things about this story but never had a good opportunity to read it; until now! (Not to be confused with the recent Siege event nor the Steven Seagal movie!)
Jonathan Hickman is the popular writer of such books as Marvel’s Fantastic Four and Secret Warriors. This month, his new title debuts, Marvel’s SHIELD. Westfield’s Roger Ash recently spoke with Hickman about this new series.

Before I get into things, I’d like to take talk about Cereal: Geek Magazine quickly. James Eatock, possibly better known as 80s cartoon super-historian Busta Toons, recently sent me an email asking if I’d like to see a preview of his 100 page, ad-free, glossy magazine devoted to 80s ‘toons in pdf format. As someone who grew up in the 80s myself (and had wanted to read this magazine for quite some time), I wasn’t going to turn this opportunity down.
Wow! I was not let down.

I totally stole this idea from Brian Cronin over at Comic Book Resources. I was being a little extra lazy and using Google to refresh my memory as to which Superman/Batman cover I really, really like that DC changed before it went to press (issue 40, if you were wondering).
I ended up stumbling upon an article where books were being judged solely by their covers. Or rather, their covers were being discussed without too much context to their contents. Unlike Cronin, though, I’m not going through all of the DC and Marvel covers for the month; just some of them. In no particular order, some of my comments on covers in the December 2009 Previews catalogue!
