What would you do if I told you that for less than $15 (not including shipping, handling, and taxes), that you could read eighteen comics by some of the greatest creators working in comics today (and some other guys, too)?
That’s well over 400 pages of comics! I don’t know about you, but I’d give it a shot!
Saga of the Swamp Thing Volume 1 and Y: The Last Man Deluxe Edition Volume 1 are both really nice hardcovers. They’re also the beginnings of two critically acclaimed series. Don’t take my word for it, though. You could just pick up Vertigo: First Taste, and try a six-pack of comic tastiness for yourself!
Vertigo: First Offenses
The fun doesn’t stop there. Today sees the release of the first Fables Deluxe Edition Hardcover Volume 1. You don’t have to judge the book by it’s gorgeous cover, though. You could buy Vertigo: First Offenses and read the first issue, along with four other stories, too.
The most recent entry, Vertigo: First Cut, weighs much more heavily on the contemporary side of things compared to previous volumes, but don’t be fooled! There’s still a plethora of hors d’oeuvres, including crime and western action from authors Jason Aaron and Brian Azzarello.
On a slightly related note, have you seen the awesome new Tom Strong Deluxe Volume 1 and Absolute Promethea Volume 1? You can read the first issue of each, along with plenty of other Alan Moore-penned stories (including Splash Brannigan, with my buddy Hilary Barta) in the America’s Best Comics Primer. Oh yeah, almost forgot; it’s under $5, too!
