Fifth Degree: This & That
by Josh Crawley
It’s been a crazy, blizzard filled holiday season, and I’ve got plenty more to do before the end of the week, so we’re going to do some quick (and hopefully interesting) link-blogging; aw yeah!
Some may see something I said last week as anger towards Marvel. Well, this week I will applaud the choice of Roger Langridge and Chris Samnee as the creative team on one of Marvel’s Free Comic Book Day choices: Captain America/Thor!
I didn’t watch the Thor trailer (I already know I’m going to see the movie and don’t mind being surprised), and in turn, I missed that an Englishman was cast as a mythological Norse god. Some people seem to have taken issue with that. Some people also have taken issue with the people who took the first issue (all those issue mentions almost make it sound like I’m talking about comics!). Also, there’re some pretty humorous comments.
Yeah, you may have thought your wedding was awesome, but let’s be honest: it probably wasn’t as awesome as a Kryptonian Wedding.
I don’t agree with all of Josh Blaylock’s analysis, necessarily (if there’s demand to hear my thoughts, I may go into it further), but this is definitely interesting reading.
I’m looking forward to Phil Hester on Wonder Woman; how about you?
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Adrienne Roy. It would take me a very long time to count all the comics I own that her name appears in.
And that’s it for this week, folks. I’m not sure what will be on tap for next week, but please don’t be surprised if I magically disappear. And if I do disappear for the week, have a great year-end!
Follow my tweets, email me, and be sure to keep an eye out on the Westfield Comics Facebook.
Josh Crawley may or may not be the keyboardist for Everclear. He strongly suggests you not bet that he is.
