Siege #1 Director's Cut

Siege #1 Director's Cut

by Josh Crawley

I would have thought for an “event seven years in the making” the four page text back-up in Siege #1 wouldn’t have a glaring typesetting error that involved repeating the text from page one (and some from page two) on the third page. On the other hand, an “event” that’s only four issues – or 23; no, sorry, make that 37, after counting everything on the checklist (assuming those that’s a correct listing) – yeah, I give up.

I’d go read Fall of the Hulks, but the constant teasing of “Who is the Red Hulk?” I care even less about.

I get asked a lot as to whether I’ve seen this or that trailer; most recently Iron Man 2. Here’s the deal: I don’t care. Why? Glad you asked. First, I’ll have months to see it before the movie comes out on May 7 (the Friday after Free Comic Book Day). Second, I’m going to see the movie anyway; I don’t need a trailer to entice me. Third, I like surprises in movies. I don’t see many movies in theaters, but this is going to be one of them. When I first see Rhodey don the War Machine in the movie, I’d like it to be on the big screen. I want the thrill to be that much greater! Finally, working in this business on the front lines, there’re plenty of spoilers. I like to minimize them whenever possible.

In the meantime, I’ll just stick to reading my Iron Man: War Machine softcover! I’ve also been meaning to check out the Secret Invasion War Machine softcover, but I’m not going to hurry too quickly to read it. As I said before, there’s months until the movie comes out.

I’m going to try and do this every week, if only so I have some idea of stuff that grabbed my attention at the time, and maybe it’ll make a year-end column a little easier for myself. Items of interest released this week!

+ The Chill hardcover from DC/Vertigo Crime
+ X-Men Vs Fantastic Four premiere hardcover
+ Magic The Gathering Path of the Planeswalker softcover graphic novel
+ Troublemakers hardcover graphic novel

Also knowing my luck, each week I’ll probably also have to do a list of “Items of interest I forgot to mention last week!”

Miscellaneous Bits!

+ Sorry, no crazy New Year’s Eve story. I won’t complain if the rest of the year goes as smoothly, relaxed, and fun as that evening, though (Thanks, Ryann and Tim!).

+ I was also thinking of this week’s column as a retrospective of my first partial year and looking forward to the next year, but since I’m still ironing things out format-wise, I’ll save it for next year.

+ Next week I’ll be looking through Marvel Previews #77, and the week after will be Previews #256.
