Sorry for such a short column today, but I’ve got lettering deadlines looming (and more waiting after that); no rest for the wicked!

If you hadn’t heard, Al Williamson passed away this past weekend. I have no stories to share, but Jeff Parker’s is great. Go read. As well as having no stories, his influence on my storytelling (for now) is through others. While I haven’t had a chance to listen to it yet (though it has been downloaded), go listen to Mark Schultz and Steve Bryant discuss Williamson on this week’s new Word Balloon podcast from John Siuntres.

Speaking of podcasts, I sat down for beer, wings and comic book chat with Westfield customer Brian Hancock a couple of weeks ago. A short sampler of our chat is on Brian’s most recent Captain America Archives podcast (episode 52), with the full discussion coming up in the next installment (if I recall correctly). It was a primarily a discussion about lettering, but Captain America gets discussed (of course!), and there’s plenty of other comics chat, too.
