The news came over the wire this morning that Disney has purchased Marvel Comics. Click here to see the official press release from Disney.

Personally, in this day and age where deals seem to get leaked on the web with amazing regularity, I was surprised that I had heard no rumors of this happening.

I think this could be a win/win situation for both sides with Disney having access to Marvel’s stable of characters for film projects and Marvel having someone with the power of Disney to market their characters.
