DC Comics news roundup
If you’ve been around a computer in the past week or so, you’ve no doubt heard about the many changes going on at DC Comics. First, it was announced that the parts of DC Entertainment dealing with multi-media and digital output would be relocating to California with the comics end staying in New York. This was shortly followed by the announcement that WildStorm and Zuda would cease publication. All of this, understandably, has led to stories of people being relocated or losing their jobs. And then just yesterday, former Marvel Editor-In-Chief Bob Harras was named as DC’s new Editor-In-Chief. It’s been a busy couple of weeks at DC to say the least.
So we want to know, what’s your take on all of this? Is this good news? Bad news? Do you think as a reader you’ll notice that things have changed? Post your comments below and let us know what you think.
Update: Since this was posted yesterday, the news broke that three editors at Vertigo – Joan Hilty, Pornsak Pichetshote and Jonathan Vankin – have been laid off.

My head’s still spinning from all these changes so it all feels too early to judge. But installing Bob Harras as EiC is a pretty damn aggressive move that says quite a bit. I still don’t get why it took Disney buying Marvel to light such a huge fire under their butts.

To tell you the truth, I am not sure if I understand the ramifications. All I know is losing 30% of the team doesn’t sound like good news. I would hate to see something very serious happen. DC has been a part of my life for thirty years.

I was surprised that DC hired Bob Harras when he didn’t exactly keep Marvel on sturdy ground when he was over there.

Joan Hilty did a ton of great work at DC including Hard Time, and Birds of Prey. I can’t say I know what they are gaining in Harras, but they seem to be losing a lot.
