casperanniversaryhc1.jpgYou’d expect that a new hardcover book featuring Casper the Friendly Ghost would have made it out by Halloween but, more appropriately, this week marks the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of Casper’s comics debut. Dark Horse Comics is releasing of a special hardcover facsimile edition of not one, but two full-length, complete Golden Age Casper comic books in sparklingly restored full color. The new book begins with Archer St. John’s 1949 first issue of Casper the Friendly Ghost, and continues with Harvey Comics’ premier edition of Casper from 1952. These classic stories find Casper defying his fellow ghosts’ dictum that ghosts must scare people and makes friends with a host of cute kids and furry animals in two tales that will touch the heart of all ages and tickle the funny bone.
