Highlights This Week: The wait is over and and DC’s 7 mini-series prequels to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ magnum opus begins with Before Watchmen: Minutemen #1 (of 6) written and drawn by Darwyn Cooke. Also, every Before Watchmen comic will feature a two-page installment of the backup series “Curse of the Crimson Corsair” written by Len Wein and featuring art by original Watchmen colorist John Higgins; Walking Dead Volume 16: A Larger World Softcover containing issues #91-96 is finally available for your reading pleasure; Avengers VS X-Men #5 (of 12) is the end of Act One and tie-ins can be found in Avengers Academy #31 and Uncanny X-Men #13; Steve Niles and Phil Noto are just two of the creators involved in Image’s Creator-Owned Heroes #1, a new anthology title with 2 ongoing stories – one about a disparate group of post-apocalyptic survivors looking for paradise and the other involving a dangerous female weapon; Prophecy #1 (of 7) is a Dynamite Entertainment company crossover, written by Ron Marz, with their pantheon of characters trying to prevent the Mayan Calendar prophecy of the end of the world; Luke Cage has his hands full as the Thunderbolts title is renamed Dark Avengers #175; the Valiant relaunch continues with X-O Manowar #2 and Harbinger #1; Spawn #220 celebrates the series 20th anniversary and the popular pop culture website gives print media a try with Bleeding Cool Magazine #0!
