New In-Store Releases for Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Highlights This Week: Marvel’s got the top two anticipated new books this week. First up, their Jade Giant is relaunched in Incredible Hulk #1 by the creative team of writer Jason Aaron and artist Marc Silvestri. The title’s new direction pumps up the volume on the ongoing Banner VS Hulk conflict with dynamic visuals and a personal storyline for The Hulk reminiscent of the popular Planet Hulk arc; next up is the first new post-Schism title, also written by the prolific Jason Aaron, Wolverine and the X-Men #1, in which Logan takes his followers back to the remains of the X-Mansion in upstate New York with art provided by classic X-artist Chris Bachalo; the Eisner Award-winning creators of 100 Bullets (Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso) return with Spaceman #1 (of 9) telling the near-future story of a hulking, lonely loser who spends his days collecting scrap metal and dreaming of a life amongst the stars; Legion: Secret Origin #1 (of 6) comes with a Free Legion Flight Ring while supplies last; from Avatar Press, Warren Ellis finally delivers Captain Swing & The Electrical Pirates of Cindery Island #4 (of 4) and Garth Ennis debuts Stitched #1 the ongoing, comic book continuation of his critically acclaimed short horror film; Mighty Thor #7 begins a Fear Itself prequel, relating the never-before-told past history of Odin and The Serpent; the story of the last Imperial Guardsman returns after over a decade of anticipation in Star Wars: Crimson Empire III-Empire Lost #1 (of 6); another long-anticipated book, Gerry Duggan and Phil Noto’s Infinite Horizon #5 (of 6) is finally released; Avengers Solo #1 (of 5) finds Clint Barton, Hawkeye, uncovering a grisly conspiracy that threatens the reputation of the Avengers and a backup story featuring Hank Pym and the kids of Avengers Academy; and the Westside location should finally receive their copies of DC/Vertigo’s horror anthology one-shot Unexpected #1 just in time for Halloween! -Wanna see something really scary?!
